don't mind us, we'll be fine...

I heard on the news today that this is the first time since the Blizzard of '78 that the governor of Rhode Island has declared a state of emergency. Does that strike anyone else as odd?

"Nah, don't worry about us. We don't need to shut anything down or call out the National Guard. In fact, why don't you guys at Emergency Management just call it a day."

I would think that sometime in the past 27 years that something would have warranted the official state of emergency declaration. Wasn't there a lot of snow that other time? Or that ice storm? Isn't that enough? Apparently not. Of course, I suppose that could have something to do with the fact that this isn't upstate New York, which of course means that they don't realize the true danger of the white menace.

In other news, I've discovered that a state of emergency is one of the few reasons for which they will close the theater offices.

Let's hear it for the white stuff.

And let's hear it for before and after photos.
