My office got new windows this weekend and, well, it's a little strange to actually be able to see clearly out of them now. The old ones had this film of filth that veiled the outside world from view. Now I've got this bright clear view of the HVAC system on the restaurant next door and all the grit that's landed on it from the construction that's been going on here. The masons who built the stairwell tower were masters at flinging cement blobs as far as they can go, decorating the nearby brickwork and skylights with gray, three-dimensional Jackson-Pollock-inspired splotches.
It's nice, I guess, to have unfiltered sunlight coming in. But I honestly feel a little exposed. I get the feeling that the people over at Blue Cross are watching me from their conference rooms 150 feet away.
Because I'm just that interesting.
